At a time of global unrest, a single country is hard to stay safe and down. If we parallel the Zhou dynasty with the globe, the Wei state(魏国) described in this poem is the troubled country, agitated by conflicts between its neighbour states, among its own people. This poem is the day dream of a hopeless Wei people, the dream for a utopia. It either condemn the cruel lord of Wei, it is definitely a harsh time for the people.
