The most handsome gentleman in the Book of Songs? This poem is about. This popular and famous poem described a gentleman, mostly probably one of the Wei state lord(卫侯) with a very delicacy writing, the wordings of it are still popularly used and quoted today.
Song of praise is always a very special and popular genre, which is about praising the nature, mankind, god, lords, virtue/quality etc. . Song for lord is not very familiar to Chinese nowadays, but there are still a bunch of kingdoms around the globe, it would be a very interesting comparison between this song to those kingdom’s anthems. What’s more, there are a bunch of songs for chairman Mao, it would be an interesting comparison between this poem and one of the most popular song: Red the Orient(东方红), a modern folk song.
