This poem or song is part of the performance Da Wu(大武), which means Grand Ares or Grand King Wu(周武王). Da Wu is the only performance dedicated to Zhou Ancestors in their most grand ceremonies, thus it is of with the utmost significance to Zhou people.

Book of Rites(礼记), Rites of Zhou(周礼) and Zuozhuan(春秋左传) are referenced to reveal some of the interesting facts and background of Da Wu.
