The very simple Tang poem could mean big, 赋得古原草送别 or 草 (grass) is among the top five of classic poems for a Chinese kid, simple, picturesque ,a song for the eternity of life. A kid read it with ease, an adult read it with thoughts.

In fact, the poet write this poem with very strong intention in his 18. First , as a vehicle to pass the imperial exam. Second, his own solute to the roots of Chinese literacy, Book os Songs(风) and Chu Ci(骚).

This poem rebirth again and again through movies , songs, paintings ,not to say poem and articles. Just name one modern song “送别” by 李叔同, every now and then you would hear this song among Chinese.

离离原上草,
一岁一枯荣。
野火烧不尽,
春风吹又生。

远芳侵古道,
晴翠接荒城。
又送王孙去,
萋萋满别情。
